Two large pictures on the front page show the old “Creamery Bridge” before and after its demolition by National Guardsmen. The iron sign that marked the 92-year-old bridge has been placed in the Marion County Historical Museum.

Free pancakes and sausage drew a big crowd of more than 1,000 persons at Lynn’s Truck and Tractors’ 14th annual Pancake Day last Thursday.

Marion High School business students taught by Helen Reznicek won many awards at Bethel College on Tuesday. Participants included Peggy Owens, Gena Helmer, Linda Schaffer, Robyn Brooks, Brenda Friesen, Karen Hayes, Tammy Sandwell, Becky Vinduska, Donna Casey, Annette Nienstedt, Rick Richmond and Barry Allen.

Casey Case, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case Jr. and a senior at Marion High School, has signed a letter of intent to play football at Cowley County Community College.

Kelli Hajek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Hajek, celebrated her seventh birthday March 2 by inviting friends to her home after school. Invited guests were Melissa Johnston, Brenda Bina, Denise Meierhoff, Tammy Stenzel, Becky Pirtle, Traci Helmer, Tina Holub, Jennifer Williams, Vicki Hartley and Robin Monroe.
