Saturday will be a big day in Marion. There will be a full program of events to appeal to persons of all ages—and not the least of these will be the “first annual” tiddlywinks tournament.

Margaret Pickering is the subject, this week, of Ruth Meyer’s “Personality Profile.”

Cindy Bernhardt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bernhardt of Marion, received the Marion-Florence FFA chapter’s highest student award, Chapter Star Farmer, last week. She is the first girl to win the award since girls were allowed to participate in FFA 10 years ago. Rod Just, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Just of Aulne, was winner of the 1979 Star Greenhand award.

A group of students from Centre High School flew to Washington, D.C., May 6 to spend three days touring the nation’s capital. The government class and their sponsor Bob Kleinschmidt toured the area and also visited Mount Vernon and the newly renovated Library of Congress.

Robert T. Stephan, attorney general of Kansas, will be the commencement speaker at Marion High School graduation exercises at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Marion Gymnasium.
