D.W. Montgomery, agent for William Scully in Marion County since 1949, will retire Friday after 30 years in the Scully Estates Office here. Forrest Smith will assume management and replace Montgomery as agent.

Chris Costello defeated Steve Moore in a sudden death playoff Monday to capture the championship round of the Marion Country Club Memorial Day invitational golf tournament.

Awards granted Tuesday at Marion High School commencement included those of class valedictorian, Doug Heerey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heerey of Marion, and salutatorian Patti Fruechting, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Fruechting of Marion.

The University of Kansas School of Education recently honored several longtime teachers in Marion County. Included were the following from Marion: Lois Anderson, first grade teacher at Bown-Corby; Eugene Enos, principal of Marion Elementary and Bown-Corby; and Ruth Pankratz, fifth grade teacher at Marion Elementary.
