A photograph of the early day home of the Brown Corby was in the Old Settlers’ edition of the Marion County Record. It was stated that his daughter taught school at Bown-Corby School. The report was in error. Miss Jenny Corby was not a daughter, but a sister of Brown Corby.

Pictured is Bill Baker as he puts the finishing touches to the new city of Marion “welcome sign” near US-56 just west of Marion. The sign, a combined project of the Chamber of Commerce, Marion PRIDE and city commission, was completed Friday. Les Byer also completed signs on other approaches to the city.

The Herington Railers rolled over the Marion Warriors Friday, chilling the homecoming crowd with a 32-14 victory. Nothing could, however, spoil the moment for Homecoming Queen Theresa Kroupa, pictured as she smiles up at King Kevin McGahee.

Ramona Carlin, wife of Governor John Carlin, will speak at the ninth annual meeting of St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary when scholarship awards will be made to this year’s winners, Sue Fruechting and Alan Bina.

A sign denoting the dedication Sept. 29 of Marion flood control project was unveiled Old Settlers’ Day at ceremonies in Central Park. The sign will be placed near US-56 where it crosses the flood control channel.
