Ruth Meyer’s “Personality Profile” this week recognizes Rev. Lester Owens, current pastor at Florence Christian Church, who, along with his wife, is a Red Cross instructor in first aid courses for Florence, Marion and Peabody.

Robin Brooks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brooks of Marion, has been recognized for outstanding achievement in career education at Brown Mackie College. Brooks will graduate in the medical secretary program. She is a 1979 graduate of Marion High School.

Gene Winkler is pictured as he serves a hefty steak dinner to John Reznicek Sr. of Lost Springs at the annual Farm-City Week steak stag.

Pictured front line troops for the 1979-’80 Lady Warriors are Tammy Sandwell, Linda Williams, Jami Shirley, Kim Schaffer, Jackie Richmond, Lori Hett, and Trudy Ratzlaff. New faces include sophomores Mickey Costello, Loraine Wiens and Margie Dyck.

Santa is coming from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday in Bob Brooken’s office. He will bring something for good adults and children, alike.

Marion High School’s Barbershop Quartet went to Emporia High School Nov. 10 and competed in statewide competition. Out of 15 schools, the group finished fifth. The quartet consists of Greg Boyle, tenor, Brad Seifert, lead, Kevin McGahee, baritone, and Brian Bowers, bass.
