The Christian Church on Elm Street in Marion has erected a manger scene, a re-creation of the stable, near Bethlehem in Judea, of a visit believed to have been made by three wise men, an angel and numerous shepherds on Jesus’ birthday: Christmas—December 25.

The city commission discussed, at its Monday meeting, “squaring off” the city limits to take in the area that the city serves. Proposals include taking into the city limits the area inside the floodway dike in the valley and the sports complex area at the east side of town.

Judge Edwin G. Westerhaus this week announced that he has submitted his resignation as Judge of the District Court and will return to private practice of law on Jan. 1.

Fred and Virginia Shields of Shields Farms, Lincolnville, a family-owned corporation, are featured in this week’s Personality Profile.

Marion High School sophomore Jami Shirley scored 24 points and the Marion Lady Warriors stole the game Thursday at Canton-Galva, winning 49-41. Sophomore guard Trudy Ratzloff scored 22 points, made eight steals and added two assists when the B-team plucked the Eagles 50-24.

Helen Winter won $15 in the Dec. 8 Marion Chamber of Commerce Christmas bonus bucks contest.
