Emporia State University’s a Cappella Choir will present a concert March 2 in Eastmoor United Methodist Church. Rosie Plenert of Marion is one of the featured vocalists.

The 1980 edition of “Who’s Who in Music” will carry the names of outstanding high school music students in the nation. Those included are the following from Marion High School: Julie Hett, Lori Hett, Linda Schaffer, Brian Bowers, John Dyck, and Teresa Kroupa.

Christine Laue, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Sanders, was eight years old Feb. 8. Due to the 14-inch snow that day, a birthday party was held Feb. 13. Christine’s guests were her sister Carol, Denice Winter, Melissa Johnston, Jennifer McLain, Tina Holub, and Lucy and Lilly Guerra.

Brian Bowers, son of Mr. and Mr. David Bowers of rural Marion, has been selected to receive the State Farmer Degree of the Kansas Association of FFA.

The Eastmoor bowling team leads in team events after the first week of the 19th annual men’s city bowling tournament at MarBowl Lanes.

This week’s Personality Profile features David Blackim. Born in Ireland, he came with the Blackim family when they migrated to America and settled in Marion. David graduated from Marion High School in the 1920s, became a pharmacist in Wichita, and now has retired in Marion.
