Mike Elson of Flint Hills Regional Council was present at the regular meeting of the Marion City Commission Monday afternoon to go over details of a contract for administering the expected federal community block grant that will pay up to $300,000 worth of new water lines locally.

The first of what is hoped to be an annual “potluck” dinner-theatre will be held April 26 at Marion High School. Sponsored by the school, the event will begin with dinner in the lunchroom.

This week’s Personality Profile tells the history of Clive H. Jarvis, who worked at many trades in many states before learning the butcher trade and coming to Marion where he has operated a meat market for years.

Construction on the new addition to HRK Surplus Salvage should be completed within two weeks, according to manager Lavern Kerbs. The addition will provide increased storage space for the busy store that handles a multitude of items.

James William Miesse Post 22 of the American Legion will celebrate its birthday April 26 with a public dance at the post home.

Keith Collett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Collett of rural Marion, will play the part of Figaro, a count’s valet, in Mozart’s classic comic opera, “The Marriage of Figaro” Friday through Sunday at Kansas State University, Manhattan.
