Juvenile court records and proceedings in the Eighth Judicial District are now subject to public scrutiny, according to District Administrative Judge William Clement. The decision, labeled “Rule 11,” was unanimously adopted at the district judges’ quarterly meeting held Monday afternoon in the Marion County Courthouse.

Les Byer reports that nearly 300 people attended the new firm’s open house on Saturday. Winners of the door prizes were Bill Bond, Wichita, clay basket with dried flowers; Richard Smith, Marion, casserole; and Judy Christensen, Marion, set of mugs.

Mr. and Mrs. Max Carr were guests of honor at a picnic dinner in Central Park Sunday noon in honor of their 40th wedding anniversary, which is Aug. 3.

Lance Ringler of Kingman, one of the 29 out-of-town golfers who played in the Marion Open Golf Tournament the past weekend, won the event with a score of 69. Closest finishers from Marion were Jim Richmond and Jeff Leverenz, who turned in scores of 75 to tie for fourth place.
