Old Settlers’ Day is just a week away, and various committees are working to make this year’s celebration another outstanding success. This year’s theme will be “The 80s, A Decade of Opportunity.”

Lori Reznicek, Lost Springs, was awarded a special $1,000 scholarship from Lutheran Hospitals and Homes Society, Fargo, N.D., at St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary’s 10th anniversary celebration Thursday night. Reznicek also received the auxiliary’s James Wheeler Scholarship for $300. Patti Fruechting, Marion, received the auxiliary’s other $300 scholarship.

Lori Kelsey and Kevin Fruechting exchanged double ring wedding vows in a ceremony Aug. 19 at Marion Christian Church.

Announcement is made this week by Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Post that they have sold Kingfisher Inn at Marion County Park and Lake to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sprowls of Wichita.

Mary Jeffrey thinks her tiny tomato should win the award for the smallest vegetable in this year’s Produce Derby. She lays no claim to special variety, unique fertilizer or custom care. “It just grew that way,” she said.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Heerey were hosts at a dinner at WheatStone Inn Aug. 14 following the rehearsal for the Williams-Heerey wedding.
