Civil Defense weather watchers manned citizen band radios Saturday evening keeping close tabs on a threatening storm, which brought high winds to Marion County.

Larry E. Goering, former Marion-Florence vocational agriculture teacher, has received the National Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association “Outstanding Young Teacher” award for the state.

Mrs. Donald Kelsey, Marion, announces the engagement of her daughter, Kathy, to Mark Rathert, son of Francis and Ann Rathert, Marion. No wedding date has been set.

The third annual Bowers family camp-out was held at Cottonwood Point August 16, 17, and 18. All members of the family were present.

Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Kerbs of Tampa flew to Washington, D.C., Aug. 10 to join their son Glenn for a short vacation there and in the surrounding area. Glenn has been in Washington this summer working as a congressional intern for Senator Bob Dole.

Susan Hansen, whose marriage to Bill Stannard will take place Aug. 23, was honored with a miscellaneous bridal shower Aug. 15 at Our Savior Lutheran Church.
