Dorothy Varenhorst held the grand opening of Vans, Too on Friday and Saturday. Located alongside her Van’s clothing store, the new shop features merchandise not found in the other store. Mrs. Jim Smith of Marion was the winner of the Fieldcrest electric blanket given as a door prize for the grand opening.

One of the hottest items to be sold at the Senior Center benefit auction Saturday will be the autographed baseball donated by George Brett of the Kansas City Royals. He inscribed the ball especially for the Marion Builders, to be offered at the auction.

Candidates competing for 1980 MHS homecoming queen are Gena Helmer, Lanell Tajchman, and Tammy Sandwell.

Emyr Evans, 23, from Wales, is staying with the Charles Kjellin family on their farm near Marion. Evans is here on an exchange program organized by the Future Farmers of America and his local group in Wales, Young Farmers’ Clubs of Great Britain.

George Jackson, proprietor of Jackson’s Clothing Store, was installed as president of Marion Kiwanis Club Monday noon. Roger “Bud” Hannaford was reappointed as secretary and Gene Winkler was named to a third term as treasurer. Larry Reiswig continues as first vice president, as does Ed Wheeler as second vice president.
