David R. Montgomery, son of Dave Montgomery of Marion and a graduate of Marion High School, has been advanced to the rank of captain in the United States Navy. Capt. Montgomery serves in the nuclear submarine force of the Navy.

Now that he has proven he can punt as well as he can pass the football, Terry Bradshaw, quarterback for the world champion Pittsburgh Steelers, is trying his skills at quarter horse scouting. Bradshaw was in Canton, Kansas, Oct. 14 inspecting stallion quarter horses at the Duane Walker ranch. The Walkers will hold their annual production sale Nov. 1.

An 8-page “Warrior Country News” was published Friday, completing a three-week unit in the fifth hour English II class. Students involved in producing the newspaper were Penny Burkholder, Julia Carr, Mickey Costello, Margi Dyck, Jeff Harris, Rod Just, Kris Kelsey, Mike Kerns, Debra Kreutzman, Mary Medina, Trudy Ratzloff, Doug Regnier, Melissa Robinson, Mike Schmidtberger, Jami Shirley, Sherry Snelling, Jon Wiebe, and Loraine and Loreen Wiens.
