Tickets for the Marion High School Swing Singers annual Candlelight Christmas Concert will go on sale Thursday. Soloists include the following: Gina Helmer, Debbie Rittgers, Jan Nuss, Greg Boyle, Brad Seifert, Jon Wiebe and vocal music instructor Jeff Brewer. Joan Hiebert accompanies the Swing Singers.

The long-awaited rain finally came beginning Saturday evening and night and through Sunday. Icy road conditions Monday accounted for over 15 non-injury accidents with little or no vehicle damage. The most hazardous spot in the area seemed to be US-50 two miles west of Peabody.

Brenda L. Friesen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Friesen, has accepted a position as secretary with Norris Furniture of Salina.

Aaron Hett shot 46 percent from the field Friday night and Kevin Jirak nabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Marion Warriors to a narrow victory of Moundridge 57-55. Seniors on the Marion Warrior basketball squad this year are Aaron Hett, Ty Branson, Nathan Smith, Kevin Jirak, Randy Savage, Danny Sherbert, Greg Boyle, Carl Wolf, and Brad Vannocker.

Two from the area have been listed in the 1980 edition of “Outstanding Young Women of America.” They are Patricia Jo Enos of Baldwin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kjellin of Marion and Sue Ellen Henke of Topeka, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Henke of Lost Springs.
