Members of Marion City Commission decided at Monday’s afternoon meeting that they will start negotiating for water from Marion Lake, the federal reservoir three miles northwest of town.

This week’s Personality Profile deals with Bill Harmon, new executive director of the United States Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service for Marion County.

Bruce Winkler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Winkler of Marion, has been selected for honorable mention honors in the essay contest recently conducted by the Grand Lodge of Kansas.

Marion High School had three seniors named to the Burrton Invitational Tournament all-star team. Aaron Hett was named most valuable player and selected to the first team. Greg Boyle also was selected to the first team and Kevin Jirak to the second team.

Geraldine Seibel, clerk of the district court for Marion County, was recognized Wednesday for 25 years of service to the judicial district. Judge William D. Clement, presented Seibel with a Kansas Judicial System service award.

Fern Frans is pictured as she takes an order Thursday for Warrior basketball players Aaron Hett and Kevin Jirak. Frans, owner and operator of the Marion Burger Shake, offered high school basketball players a free Coke and hamburger to give them extra firepower at the Burrton tournament.
