Faced with higher fuel and materials costs for road maintenance, the Marion County Commission Monday discussed a consideration to eliminate nearly half of the 230 miles of blacktop roads.

Over 60 Marion High School students were recognized March 10 at the annual Kiwanis Honor Banquet held at St. Mark’s Activity Center.

Three area Marion County girls will model attire in a style show tonight at the Community Theater in Salina. Linda Beltz and Julie Hett will be modeling clothes from The Sassy Shop in Marion, while Debbie Helmer of Hillsboro, will wear the latest from The Sassy Shop in Hillsboro.

Skiing at Winter Park, Colorado, over the weekend were the Bob Kellys, Gene Winkler family, Debbie Kreutzman, Max Hayen family, and the Bill Burkholder family.

Marion High School students raised about $1,655 Saturday in a jump rope marathon for the Heart Fund. Members of the winning team, Melanie Conyers, Valerie Smith, Tracy Burkholder, Brenda Silhan, Cyndi Woerz, and Tammy Harris, raised $775 in the marathon.
