Kiwanis Club presented Helen Case with certificates of appreciation in memory of her deceased husband, Alex Case. He was the last surviving charter member of the Marion Kiwanis Club until his death last month. The club was first chartered in 1923.

City councilmen at Florence are seeking ways to remove a 200-foot logjam along the Cottonwood River at the east edge of town.

Tammy Sandwell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sandwell, is enrolled in the business course at Flint Hills Area Vo-Tech School in Emporia. She is a 1981 graduate of Marion High School.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Stika were guests of honor Sunday when their family gathered at Marion County Lake recreation hall for a dinner in observance of their 60th wedding anniversary.

Doug Kjellin of Marion has been selected as a member of the national FFA band that will be performing at the annual convention in Kansas City Nov. 12 to 14. The 107 musicians are selected from among more than 400 applicants across the nation.
