The new bridge, or landfill, over Luta Creek in downtown Marion moved another stop closer to reality Monday afternoon when Ray Wilcox, district engineer for the Kansas Department of Transportation at Marion, brought plans for the structure to the weekly meeting of the Marion City Commission.

Dr. Robert L. Novak of Lost Springs was elected vice president of the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association at the annual meeting of the organization Jan. 11 in Topeka.

Employees and patrons of Kingfisher’s Inn at the county lake are suffering from the “empty stump syndrome” since the colorful and artistic metal Kingfisher replica was stolen last week. Thieves ripped the bird from its perch. Bob and Kathy Sprowls would appreciate its safe return.
