Jangling spurs and the yippee-yi-yay of the frontier days will ring out through Marion Saturday when the Chamber of Commerce and the Marion Saddle Club combine to present “Western Days.” The full day of downtown activities will be highlighted with the Western Days Parade and a jackpot rodeo offering over $500 in prizes.

Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Vinduska announce the engagement of their daughter Anne Cecile to Thomas Edward Malone, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Malone, Wichita. The wedding will be Oct. 9.

A group of boys, aged 11 and 12, will represent Marion in the Abilene Pee Wee invitational tournament this weekend. Boys selected to participate are Larry McLain, Brad and Greg Tice, Shane Holub, Mike Barnett, Chris Blackman, Jason Bina, Tony Manser, Mike Schill, Steve Waner, Chris Sprowls, Andy Waner, Dirk Kannady, Andy Hett, and Larry Dalrymple.

Representatives from city, county, and state law agencies held a recognition ceremony Thursday for Judge Henry “Hank” Loveless, who is stepping down from his position as Municipal Court Judge for Marion.

William and Theresa Kroupa, son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Kroupa, were listed on the spring semester honor roll at Kansas State University. William is enrolled in mechanical engineering and Theresa in pre-nursing.
