Nikki Bina, 3-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bina, is the winner of the 1982 baby beauty contest held Sunday at the Tri Rivers Fair in Salina.

Anniversary celebrations in this issue include the following: Mr. and Mrs. Thomas B. Hett, 40th anniversary, married Aug. 9, 1942; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Batt, 40th, married July 25; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wray, 40th, wedding date not provided; and Mr. and Mrs. Levi Suderman, 48th, married Aug. 8.

Lisa Richmond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delton Richmond of rural Florence was named first runner-up in the Tri-County Fair-sponsored Junior Miss Pageant at Herington last week. Cindy Heerey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heerey of Marion, was selected as third runner-up.

Terri Helmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ladd Helmer of Rural Route 1, Marion, is the winner of the RC Fun Boat in the contest sponsored by Quality Food Market.

The Owl Car Café, one of Marion’s best-known businesses, has changed hands. Mr. and Mrs. Stan May took over operation of the popular restaurant Monday. They purchased the business and building from Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bridges who had operated it for the past seven years.

Dan Ludwig of Florence was a repeat winner this year in the “five-axle livestock” class competition of the Kansas Motor Carriers Association annual Roadeo.
