A steady crowd of spectators wound its way through 61 exhibits in Central Park Saturday during the fourth annual Art in the Park fair. Dorothy Varenhorst, chairman of the event, said artists from 39 Kansas towns set up booths at the fair.

Administrators, teachers, and students will conduct tours Thursday highlighting $20,000-worth of renovations at Marion High School. New staff members at MHS this year are Bob Brock, principal; Dana Jordan, physical education; Roneal Toon, science; Mike Connell, instrumental music; and Melvin Beazely, vocal music.

Two rural Marion ranchers have been cited for placing cattle on an elite list of Hereford cows noted for fertility and growth of offspring. Marvin Meisinger and Rex Siebert have received special recognition by the American Hereford Association for placing one cow from each of their herds on the list.

Dietary staff members at Marion Manor were honored guests at a banquet prepared by residents to observe Food Service Employee Week. Pictured dining by candlelight are Vera McCarty, Julia Hurtado, Dawn Luna, Naomi Childs, Shirley Vogel, Nora Richter, and Darla Conklin.

There were 25 children enrolled in the reading program at Marion Library this summer. Winners in a competition to see who read the most books were Kristin Groening, who read 36 books and Paul Svoboda, who read 20. Each will receive a new book as a prize.
