It won’t be a bridge, but it’ll replace the one that spans Luta Creek between the post office and Central Park, and construction on the project is expected to start Monday.

Marion County Commission Monday formally severed its ties to the Flint Hills Regional Council. The action comes in the wake of litigation involving nearly $100,000 is misused grant money, and a court case involving a defaulted note for $17,000 from the Strong City State Bank.

Janice Wiens of Marion and Lisa Clark of Burns were awarded $300 scholarships at the annual meeting of Hospital District Auxiliary Thursday night. They received the scholarships to further their education in the medical field.

Carla Stovall Roitz, a native of Marion, graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law in August with a juris doctor degree. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stovall of Marion and the granddaughter of Bernice Ford of Marion and Frances Stovall of Florence.

Members of the Marion High School Class of 1924 will hold their 58th reunion Sept. 24 at WheatStone Inn, Marion County Lake.
