Susan Higgins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Higgins of Marion, earned top honors and achieved the highest score of all shooters in the annual Texas Invitational Rifle Tournament held Sept. 25 in Austin, Texas.

Students in grades 1-5 at Florence Elementary School are reviewing the first edition of an eight-page newspaper that involves all the students telling their parents and the school more about their daily activities.

Ann Hanschu of the county lake displays gigantic iceberg winter radishes grown by her brother-in-law, Richard Snelling of Florence. The biggest one weighs over 3 pounds.

Five former teachers were among those present when former students and teachers of Sunflower School District 24 met Sunday at the Marion County Lake. Teachers present were Mildred Thies, Frances Hett, Cleo Tipton, Winifred Conyers, and Betty Bernhardt.
