Marion County Commissioners declared support Monday for a one-cent countywide sales tax to make up for an anticipated loss in tax revenues over next year.

Queen candidates for the 1982 Marion High School football homecoming are Lisa Richmond, Suzanne Steward, and Cindy Heerey. The queen will be crowned by Jami Shirley, 1981 MHS homecoming queen, during halftime ceremonies at the Marion-Centre game Friday evening.

Weddings reported in this issue included those of Julie Bina, Marion, and Russell Kerbs, Tampa, Sept. 11; Iva June Hett and Edwin Seymore Davis, both of Oklahoma City, Oct. 3; and Sheila J. Hamel and Gerald W. Collins, both of Concordia, Oct. 2.

A short ceremony was held before the start of the Marion-Hillsboro game Friday night to honor someone who helped make the game possible. Viola Kelsey of Marion was recognized as the mother of one and grandmother to seven of the players on the field.

The Sweet Adelines presented a program at Marion Manor Monday night and posed for a picture. Members of the group are LaDonna Sherbert, Connie Fisher, Greta Smith, Jan Eitzen, Anita Weber, Billie Hurtig, Lou Roberts, Celia Byer, Nanette Lowry, and director Karen Bradshaw.

Marion High School senior Amy Hett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hett, was named at Burrton volleyball tournament to the all-tournament team for the third consecutive year.
