The 100th birthday of Nodie Baker, one of Marion’s most popular and active citizens over the years, was marked Sunday afternoon with a celebration at the Christian Church. The celebration was hosted by the church, where Mr. Baker has been a member and dedicated worker for 95 years

Jim Bridges, Marion, was employed as full time director of emergency medical services Monday when Marion County Commissioners met in regular session.

Two Marion High School seniors have been notified of their advancement as finalist in the 1974 National Merit Scholarship competition. Joan Kroupa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Kroupa of rural Marion, and Patrick Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claire Robinson of Cedar Point, will join other finalists across the nation to compete for more than 3,100 scholarships.

On Feb. 24, the Vinduska family of Pilsen will gather to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Vinduska and their young sons, Anton and Joseph, at a homestead one and one-half miles northwest of the community of Pilsen.

T.C. Ensey, M.D., Marion, has been named a diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice (ABFP) as a result of passing a certification examination offered by the ABFP. He is now certified in the specialty — family practice.
