The Marion County Bike-Hike Sunday afternoon earned upwards of $4,000 for retarded children. A total of 300 hikers and bikers participated. Pictured on the front page are four of the bike riders catching a few minutes of rest. The boys are Jay Smith, Casey Case, Billy Hoch, and Doug Heerey.
The Marion County Record was notified this week that the newspaper has won one of the top awards in the National Edmund C. Arnold typography contest. Newspaper Editorial Workshop Services of Berkeley, Calif. made the announcement.
Former Marion resident, Darrell Riffel, DVM, of Little Rock Ark., and two other veterinary medicine doctors from Pine Bluff, Ark., presented an exhibit April 23 to 25 at the American Animal Hospital Association meeting in San Francisco. The exhibit concerned clinical application of a new drug for small animal eye diseases.
The Singspirationals, musical group from the Aulne community, sang Saturday evening at the Corn Bible Academy at Corn, Okla. Sunday morning, they presented a program at the Mennonite church in Weatherford, Okla., and Sunday evening at the Baptist Church in Mountain View, Okla.
