Marion High School scholastic honors this year were awarded to John Popp and Joni Kroupa, co-valedictorians, and to Claire Fruechting as salutatorian. John is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Popp, Joni is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Kroupa, and Claire is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Fruechting.

Announcement was made at the regular meeting of Marion Chamber of Commerce that a factory in New Mexico which burned to the ground in April is interested in relocating in Marion—in order to be closer to sources of supply and the firm’s marketing area. The firm reclaims waste or surplus foam and remanufactures it into carpet padding and pillow stuffing material.

Four students from Marion High School attended the Hesston Corporation Farm Equipment Division tour and luncheon for Future Farmers of America on May 8. Students Roger Schmidtberger, John Garrard, Rex Savage, and Tom Britain were accompanied to Hesston by Jerry Murray, superintendent of schools.

David W. Wheeler, Marion attorney, has been elected to the Board of Governors of the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association of the coming year. His term of office runs from August of this year through July 1975. The Kansas Trial Lawyers Association is comprised of nearly 500 attorneys across the state.
