Three men who were last week selected as officers to help head the Kansas Peace Officers Association have Marion connections. Captain Jack Summerville, who is in charge of the Wichita Police Detention and Rehabilitation Center, was elected vice president. John Waner was elected to the board of governors from District 2, and Charles Prowse was appointed governor-at-large to serve on the executive committee. All three are well known in the area have homes at the Marion County Lake.

Mrs. A.L. Richardson will observe her 90th birthday Oct. 31 and friends and relatives are invited to an open house in the Fellowship Hall of Valley United Methodist Church.

A “haunted house” located midway between Marion and Hillsboro will add spice to the Halloween season for youth in this area. Youth for Christ campus life clubs are being organized and one of the first projects will be the haunted house, located one-quarter of a mile west of the Canada Corner.

Marilee McGinness, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed McGinness of rural Marion, will appear with an Oral Roberts University Choral group, the Concert Choir, in their annual fall concert Saturday in the new Howard Auditorium on the ORU campus. Marilee is a sophomore majoring in music at the Tulsa school.

Cadette Troop 66 met Oct. 19 at the Bridges’ home. Members of the patrol include Molly Ferrell, Adah McGranor, Suzy Higgins, Debbie Bezdek, Jane Johnson, Carol Colburn, Julie Zerger, and Paula Vinduska. Mrs. Jean Bridges is leader.
