Marion Chamber of Commerce invited farmers and ranchers from the area to enjoy a charcoal broiled steak Monday evening, and within the span of 90 minutes, they had fed big bountiful and succulent steaks to 560.

Alex Case Jr., a member of the board of directors of the Marion County Historical Museum, turned off the gas light in front of the museum Monday, in response to President Nixon’s request to conserve energy.

Births announced in this issue include Audrey Lynn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hett, Hillsboro, born Nov. 11; Jennifer Jo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wiens, Emporia, born Nov. 21; and Bryce, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Allen, Hutchinson, born Nov. 24.

Autumn Kaufman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dalmer Kaufman, Durham, has been selected as a junior varsity cheerleader at Friends University, Wichita.

Hammer, nails and manpower combine to make the Lincolnville Community Building a reality. Members of the Centre High School carpentry classes are building the facility in the Lincolnville City Park as a class project.

Martin Tice, Marion High School principal, announced at Kiwanis Monday noon that the school is looking for two or three families to volunteer to house exchange students from South America. The exchange students would live in the host home for three months.
