Three Marion High School students reported to Marion Kiwanis Club Monday on their experiences in Europe last summer. Alex Case Jr. introduced Margot Wiebe, German language teacher, who, in turn, presented three of her students who were among those who made the trip last summer. Diana Case, Marty Beaston and Denise Westerhaus each gave short talks and showed slides taken while in Germany and on a tour through Europe.

Rain, perhaps an inch or more, preceded a snow and ice storm that hit during the night Monday and into Tuesday. Minor damage was done to trees and some rural homes were without electricity for short periods of time.

Mr. and Mrs. Warren D. Fike, Ramona, announce the engagement of their daughter, Glenda, to Mike Jirak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Jirak, Tampa.

Mrs. Roger W. Hannaford and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hannaford entertained Hannaford Abstract employees with a Christmas dinner Monday evening. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Edward Good, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hoover, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Smith and Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Bateman

Winners in the Chamber of Commerce sponsored Christmas Art Contest included the following high school students: Janet Ehrlich, first; Terry Smith, second; and Mike O’Dell, third. Junior high winners were Richard Roberts, Lori Harris, Molly Ferrell, Troy Bridges, Scott Miesse, and Donna Stovall.
