3 Centre FFA members in running for state office

Makenzie Deines, Karl Riffel, and Kevin Lewis are among 20 state FFA members competing for state office this week at the FFA State Convention at Kansas State University.

The group will be cut to 10 on Friday and from that six will be chosen for various offices.

Deines is a four-year FFA member and has served as chapter secretary. She plans to attend college and major in agricultural communications and journalism. She is the daughter of Terry and Julie Deines.

Lewis has been chapter reporter and served as the South Central District treasurer. Next fall Lewis plans to attend Washburn University. His parents are Kevin and Susan Shields.

Riffel is a six-year FFA member and has served as chapter sentinel and South Central District sentinel. He plans to attend Allen County Community College. He is the son of James and Beth Riffel.
