3rd boil order lifted
A boil water advisory issued by Kansas Department of Health and Environment for Rural Water District No. 1 was lifted Thursday after being in effect for nearly a week.
The advisory was issued just hours after a different one in Burns was lifted last Saturday. It marked the third boil order in the county since Aug. 20.
RWD No. 1 serves primarily the northwest quarter of the county, including Tampa and Ramona.
The order was issued after KDHE found waterline breaks that caused a loss in pressure, which could’ve allowed bacterial contamination and a loss in chlorine residuals.
"Laboratory testing of drinking water samples collected from the Marion Co RWD #1 indicates no evidence of bacteriological contamination and all other conditions that placed the system at risk of contamination are deemed by KDHE officials to be resolved," Jill Bronaugh, KDHE’s communications director, said in a release.
