The PRIDE Pacemaker Award banquet Friday will feature a speech by Gov. Robert Bennett, a slide presentation about the Marion area, a catered baron of beef dinner, and entertainment by Marion High School mixed chorus and jazz band. Highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Pacemaker Award.

This week’s Personality Profile is about Dorothy Varenhorst, proprietor of Van’s Department Store and a leader in many civic programs.

The local CYO volleyball team won the regional CYO volleyball tournament held Sunday in Marion Gymnasium. Team members include Jamie Richmond, Jackie Richmond, Becky Vinduska, Debbie Vinduska, Sherri Kelly, Doug Webb, Jay Smith, Doug Heerey, Darrel Waner, Bill Turk, and Kevin Jirak.

Marion Community Arts Council will present Beverly Hoch in concert Sunday in Marion Municipal Auditorium. A lyric coloratura, she is the daughter of Mrs. Wharton Hoch of Marion.

Marion County Ambulance Service made 24 runs in January and 33 in February, according to Max Gough, county emergency medical services director. They answered 14 sick calls, and one emergency call in January and 14 sick calls and two emergency calls in February.
