Maurice and Alberta Pritz of Lost Springs will perform during Saturday’s Sidewalk Sale that begins at 5 p.m. Saturday in Marion. The sale is being sponsored by the Marion Chamber of Commerce. A square dance will be held from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Elgin House parking lot.

The second in the series by Pam Vinduska of Marion County Record’s community correspondents features Ella Winkley, who cannot recall how many years she has written news items of the Aulne community.

Randy and Judy Mills are the subjects of Ruth Meyer’s “Personality Profiles” in this week’s issue. The Mills family came back to Kansas in October 1969, and currently resides on the Strait ranch south of Florence.

Pictured is Kerry Friesen who is not much larger than the 11.25 pound cantaloupe grown by her grandmother, Mrs. Carl Friesen. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Friesen of Hutchinson, she is the youngest person to enter the Marion County Record’s Produce Derby this season.

Julie Hett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ern Hett of rural Marion, has returned from a six-day stay at Estes Park, Colorado, where she attended the Christian Artists Music Seminar. She entered two songs in the song writing session with each finishing in the top ten out of 700 entered.

Don Peachey and his popular polka band will be in Pilsen August 25 for a one-night stand at the Starlite Ballroom.
