Marion County Fair events begin Thursday and conclude July 30. The theme of the fair is “Cows and Luaus.”

The 4-H clothing contest, construction judging, and style revue judging will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday.

The 4-H dog show will be 9 a.m. Saturday.

Participants will check in for the horse show at 5 p.m. Monday, with the show beginning at 6 p.m.

Food judging — bread, cookies, cakes, pies, and preserved foods — will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday along with the Life Skills contest. Beef, sheep, swine, and goats exhibitors will check in at 4 p.m.

Events begin at 8:30 a.m. July 27 with pigeon, poultry, and rabbit judging. Judging in the 4-H and open divisions will begin at 9 a.m. Open divisions are for ages 12 to 18. Competitions include energy management, exploring 4-H, decorated cloverbuds, wildlife, forestry, entomology, shooting sports, geology and lapidary, wood science, and space tech.

At 10 a.m., judging will begin for floriculture, horticulture, and field crops. Banners, displays, and booths will also be judged at 10 a.m.

The sheep and meat type goat show will begin at 1 p.m. The kids pedal tractor pull is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The parade will follow at 6:30 p.m. Sweet Adelines will take the stage at 7:15 p.m.

The rodeo will be 8 p.m. July 27 and 28. A 4-H dog agility contest will begin at 8:30 p.m.

Events start at 9 a.m. July 28 with the dairy goat show. At 10 a.m. scheduled events include arts and crafts, fiber arts, hay bale decorating, photography, and home environment competitions.

Judging for dairy cattle will be at 1 p.m. Bucket calf judging will begin at 5 p.m. The calf and beef show and a horse owner workshop will be 6 p.m.

The carnival opens at 6 p.m. July 27 and closes at 11 p.m. The carnival has the same hours July 28 through 30. The carnival hours extend to midnight July 29.

Events start at 8 a.m. July 29 with swine judging competition. Livestock dealers need to register at the 4-H office at 11 a.m. The livestock judging contest will begin at 1 p.m. The livestock sale will be 6:30 p.m.

The truck and antique tractor pull will begin at 7 p.m.

The round robin showmanship contest will begin at 9 a.m. July 30. The celebration at the pavilion begins at 11:15 a.m. The exhibit release and cleanup begins at noon and all open class premiums will be paid; all exhibits are to be picked up between noon and 12:30 p.m.

The demolition derby will begin at 7 p.m. and will include a fireworks display.
