The hardest frost experienced so far this fall was this morning (Tuesday) when the thermometer dropped to 22 degrees F.

The Marion Methodist Church will observe its 90th anniversary Nov. 22 with special services, commemorating its founding and the many years of dedication to the community’s advancement and spiritual life.

A new spare-time job and honor was conferred last week on Wilbur Melcher, well-known Marion sports official. He was named officials commissioner for the Ark Valley League in which he has regularly umpired for many years.

Harriet Miller, president of the Pilsen Catholic Youth Council was chosen outstanding youth in the Newton Deanery. Harriet is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Miller of Lincolnville and a senior in Centre High School.

Fifty-year gold Masonic pins were presented to Dr. G.J. Goodsheller and Nodie Baker Tuesday night at the annual past master’s banquet.
