Old Settlers Day in Marion on Sept. 30 this year will give special recognition to the women, with the theme of the day being “Women Pioneers.”

Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Christiansen, formerly of Lincolnville, have now completed the opening of their “Cres-Vu” lodge at Baxter boat landing on Table Rock Lake near Lampe, Mo.

Jay Hargett, bandmaster of that noble group of musicians known as the “Rube Band,” has issued the following notification to his group: “It’s time to get your uniforms pressed for Old Settlers Day.”

Pat Longhofer, Donna Jost, Maurice Jost, Eileen Pavey, and John Christensen are attending “Young Life Camp” at Star Ranch near Colorado Springs this week. The camp began Aug. 17 and lasts one week.

Misses Sadie and Ruth Keller were hostesses at a dinner party Friday evening. Their guests, Mrs. Walter Siebert, Miss Ethel Tibbetts, and Mrs. A.L. Richardson, were taken up the iron spiral stairway and out of the tower window onto the rooftop. Here the Keller sisters had spread rugs and set up card tables. Everyone enjoyed the meal and the wonderful view.

Winners in this week’s Cash Day drawing were Hurshel Raleigh, $50; Orville Hett, $45; Dola Meierhoff, $10; and E.O. Sandwell, $15. Mrs. Paul Holub missed $5.
