Richard A. Lundgren, Marion city clerk for the past several years, notified the city commission this week that he wanted to resign his position with the city in order to devote more time to his personal business. He and Mrs. Lundgren own and operate the Elgin Hotel. His resignation will be effective Nov. 1.

A caravan to promote Old Settlers Day will leave from the Courthouse at 8:30 a.m. this coming Tuesday. Fred Allen is chairman of the booster trip committee.

Thad Meierhoff, 17-year-old senior at Marion High School, majoring in vocational agriculture, rated full top front-page position in the current issue of the High Plans Journal. Thad is featured as an FFA boy who promises to be a future farm leader.

Farmers are busy combining an unusually large crop of maize. Yields of 65 to 70 bushels are not uncommon.
