Marion County has 1,758 farms with an average size of 355.5 acres and an average value for land and building of $45,191. Of the county’s farm operators, 469 owned their farms, 714 owned part of the land and rented additional acreage, and 583 were tenant farmers. The average age of farm operators in the county was 49.2 years with 267 being 65 or more years of age. These are a few of the revealing figures in the 1959 Census of Agriculture just released by the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The Marion Warriors this week were again rated third place team in Kansas Cass A football by the Topeka Daily Capital. The caravan of loyal Warrior fans will travel in convoy to the Herington football game this Friday night.

Rhonda Richmond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Richmond, celebrated her birthday Saturday at a party at her parents’ home. Guests included Mike, Don, and Jim Bredemeier, Terry, Scott, and Jerry Conyers, Timmy Christensen, Ronnie Ehrlich, and Greg Vogel.
