Gerald Kelsey, popular Marion High School athlete and student, is the Junior Kiwanian for Marion Kiwanis Club for the month of December.
At Marion’s first opening of the holiday season, Friday afternoon, winners in the child’s portion were Roy Houdyshell, who won a brand new deluxe bicycle; Rita Nance, a camera; Warren Remmers, another camera; Margaret Bass, a doll; and Kendall Helmer, a gun and holster set.
Diana Goertz of the Happy Hustlers 4-H Club, Marion, was named Champion Cherry Pie Baker at the county contest held last Saturday in Hillsboro.
John Ely and Jay Mehl attended a livestock sale at the Cow Palace in Newton on Tuesday.

Two Brownie Scout troops visited the Marion County Record this week. Scouts in the first troop were Sandra Anderson, Debbi Case, Shelley Batt, Brenda Helmer, Ginger Helmer, Debra Vogt, Pam Slusser, Betty Linn, Denise Wiens, Ruth Morse, Cindy Highsmith, and a guest, Christina Vogt.
