A public open house is being planned for 1 to 5 p.m. Feb. 25 with everyone invited to drop in at the Farmers and Drovers National Bank to view their new banking house. The building, at the corner of Third and Main streets, represents the largest, entirely new, building construction in downtown Marion in many years.

The six winners, out of some 120 entrants in the Litterbug Poster Contest sponsored by five Marion federated clubs, are Linda Simmons, Mary Beth Kjellin, Kenneth Hoffman, Jackie Thomas, Darrell Spencer, and Steve Childs.

Donna Jost was crowned “Queens of the Courts” at last Friday’s Marion-Centre homecoming basketball game. Donna’s four attendants were Karen Higgins, Deanna Klenda, Pam Hamlin, and Marianne Waltner.

Vince and Blair Tharp were surprised Sunday afternoon when their mother invited eight boys for a party to celebrate Vince’s 9th birthday and Blair’s 7th. Guests were Jim and Bill Darrow, David McGinness, Paul and David Richmond, Marshal Richter, and Melvin and Stanly Hett.

Five members of the Glen Conyers family of Marion miraculously escaped serious injury Sunday evening when their 1953 4-door Pontiac went off a narrow, unprotected “bridge” on a county road about 1½ miles south of the west edge of Marion. The car was a total loss
