A plan to conduct a countywide tuberculin testing for schoolchildren and school personnel has been set up this week. The simple TB skin test will be given to some 7,000 persons on two days, at five testing stations. The testing will be done by local doctors, County Health Director P.D. Ens, Mrs. Jeannine Grubb, R.N. of the Kansas TB Association; and Mrs. Katherine Swain, Marion County Health Nurse.
Harold Ewert, Marion County Weed Supervisor, placed highest in the state in a weed seed and plant identification contest at the annual state Weed Conference held recently in Topeka.
Coach Floyd Yaussi’s Marion Warriors basketball team captured Class A honors this week at the tournament held in Buhler. Members of the triumphant team were treated to dinner at the Brookville Hotel Tuesday evening by Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Schwemmer, Mr. and Mrs. Walt Oeslschlager, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Christensen, and Ed Hauser.
Three sets of parents announce the arrival of their firstborn child. The babies are Daniel Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Snelling of Florence; Douglas Lee, son of A/2c and Mrs. Roland Vogel of Salina; and Randy Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Hamm of Durham.
Max Buck, for a number of years the accountant at Marion Creamery, has joined the staff of the Farmers and Drovers National Bank. Buck will be in charge of the bookkeeping department at the bank.
