Several days of heavy rainfall over a wide area last weekend caused flood apprehension among businessmen and residents of low-lying portions of Marion, Florence, and several other nearby Kansas towns on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

Announcement was made this week that Miss Esther Twente, Kansas University professor of social sciences, will be the new project chairman of the Marion County Golden Years. She will replace Mrs. Cyril Reznicek.

Several more blood donors from Marion and Hillsboro will get their Red Cross “gallon donor” key chains within the next few days, according to Mrs. Karl Schroeder. They include Mrs. Roger Morse, Harvey Kruse, Mrs. Bessie Galliart, Gail Merrill, Lloyd Darrow, A.J. Coe, Mrs. Hazel Stafford, Anton Vinduska, Robert Arnold, Mrs. Gertrude Weinbrenner, Leonard Klassen, Harley Koop, Raymond Cornelson, Harvey Peters and Harrison Koop.

Miss Marlys Rupp, bride-elect of Maurice Hollar, was honored at a miscellaneous bridal shower Saturday evening given by Janet Riffel, Mrs. Ella Riffel, and Mrs. Earl Grimes at the home of Mrs. Henry Holub.

The 4th grade Girl Scouts enjoyed an all-day camp-out Saturday at Marion County Lake. Girls in the troop include Kathy Weber, Maurita Deines, Susan Marler, Tammy Case, Susan Hansen, Beverly Hoch, Susan Vogel, Debbie Glover, Linda Oldham, Cathy Costello, Pam Weigart, Beverly Elling, Janice Jantz, Kathy Winter and Jan VanBuren.
