Top scholastic honors for the 1960-61 year at Marion High School were announced Friday at commencement exercises. The class valedictory award went to Eileen Pavey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Pavey. Rosalie Dohner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dohner, was named salutatorian. The Balfour award, given for scholarship, loyalty, and achievement, went to John Christensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Christensen.

Mrs. Edwin Seibel announced this week that she has leased the Del Mar Café from Irene Hett and will open for business on June 5th. Mrs. Seibel has recently been working at the Cozy Café, and previously she and her husband operated the 66 Café in Florence.

Girl Scout Troop 162 is planning a picnic and hike for its summer get-together. Members of the troop are Barbara Bailey, Becky Coe, Sandra Duffy, Linda Helmer, Janice Howell, Barbara Johnson, Jeannie Keazer, Beverly Kline, Jill Kline, Anita Ottensmeier, Teresa Seifert, Linda Simmons, Madeline Thompson, Diane Wiens, and Susan Yeagley.

The “Come and Join Us Class” of the Marion E.U.B. is sponsoring a program by Elmer Childress and family the evening of June 4 at the church. A free-will offering will be taken.

Changing of assignments at St. Luke Hospital was announced this week. Those leaving are Administrator Sister M. Alicia, Sister M. Irene, Sister M. Crescentia, Sister M. Gerarda, Sister M. Agnes Clair, Sister M. Juliana, and Sister M. Armella. Those remaining on the staff are Sister M. Ignatia, Sister M. Clarita, and Sister M. Inez. New assignments include Administrator Sister M. Maurice, Sister M. Scholastica, Sister M. Leon, Sister M. Angelica, and Sister M. Lucina.
