The Marion youth baseball program will be honored in Wichita July 13 at a “Marion Night” at Lawrence Stadium. All young players who participate in the summer program, managers, and other officials will be admitted free and will be honored at ceremonies on the field.
Randall Pope, formerly of Durham, has been appointed to the position of landscape architect in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. Randall is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.S. Pope or rural Durham.
Marion High School student council has started something new this year. They have given pins to recognize students who have made a “straight A” average during the school year. Those honored were seniors Rosalie Dohner, Karen Jost, Ron Oelschlager, Eileen Pavey, and Julia Wooldridge, sophomore Jean Morse, and freshmen Max Jackson and Ruby Winkley.
Those attending Finch School during 1903-1911 held a picnic June 4 at the Marion City Building. It was the first reunion ever held by the former students. Hostesses were Mrs. E.O. Sandwell, Mrs. Mae Nelson, Mrs. Herb Hett, and Mrs. Earl Avery.
