Wheat harvest in Marion County passed the peak on Wednesday, with elevators generally breaking records of loads of grain received. It is expected that the harvest will be finished by the first of the week.
The first of a series of pictures of Marion Centennial Belles and Brothers of the Brush are published this week. Featured in Centennial dress are Bea Merrill, Norma Hannaford, and Julia Mullen.
Rocky Hett returned Friday from attending the National Student Council Convention in Oklahoma City, Okla. Rocky was a representative from the Marion Student Council and was one of eight representatives from Kansas.
Construction is proceeding rapidly on the building which will be the new dental office for Dr. Eugene Vinduska, who will enter practice here soon. The building is located directly south of St. Luke Hospital.
Janell Klose was guest at a birthday party June 26 given in honor of her ninth birthday. Guests present were Vicki Boese, Donna Ewert, Diana Franklin, Shirley Helmer, Becky Lentz, Gena Broz, Sandy Turner, Kathy, Diane, and Ronnie Weber, Steve and Jeannie Widler, Bradley Kimball, and Mike Klose.
The first Free Public Library in Kansas, built in 1874, has been renovated and will be rededicated as a museum and shrine July 3 during “Peabody Pioneer Days.” Maurice Fager, chairman of the Kansas Centennial Commission, will speak at the dedication ceremonies.
