Included among Centennial activities this week was the reporting of position in the Queen Contest, “Keystone Cop” Kangaroo court, official bonnet and derby contest, Gay 90s promenade, cake-baking contest, and the Centennial Cake Walk.

Another new business, “Don’s Upholstery Clinic,” will open in Marion soon and will feature all types of upholstery work. Don Rittgers has leased the center one of the three units of the DeForest building, on the north side of Marion Street. Opening announcement will be made next week.

Mrs. Martin Jantz entertained her Sunday school class with a party Saturday afternoon. Those present were Marsha Childs, Patty Plenert, Kris Conyers, Carol Richardson, Jerry Franklin, Gary Nickel, Kenny Schmidt, and Mike and Janice Jantz.

Mrs. Leslie Broadstreet was guest of honor at a coffee Thursday morning at the Arnold Schwemmer home. Mrs. Broadstreet was presented with a gift from the hostesses and invited guests. The Broadstreets moved to Wichita on Saturday.

Eighty or more boys, who participate in the Marion Athletic Association summer program, attended “Marion Day” at the state tournament Friday evening at Wichita’s Lawrence Stadium. Sponsors and leaders were honored, along with the boys, for the fine local summer recreational baseball program.

Terri Enos, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Enos, Marion, recently attended the Girl Scout Wider Opportunity International Congress in Pennsylvania.
