The historical pageant and panorama, “From Hope to Heritage,” was presented Thursday through Sunday to enthusiastic audiences. All acclaimed it as fine entertainment and a timely, localized pageant. Fine management and direction by Alfred Srnka, of the John B. Rogers Co. staff, was given an ovation by the cast at the conclusion of the final performance.

Marion’s famous “Owl Car Café” has moved. It now is located in the middle of the block on the north side of Main Street. The Owl Car is Marion’s oldest restaurant. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Weibert, owners, have been in business in Marion longer than any other business.

Among the important events that occurred during the Old Settlers Centennial Celebration was the dedication of the Marion County Historical Society Building and the burying on that site of the “Time Capsule” that is to be opened in 2061.

Marion School District No. 1 board was officially installed Monday night. Dr. E.K. Schroeder was elected president and Bill Meyer was named vice president. Other board members are Charles Kjellin, James S. Kline, and Wesley Summervill. The board is shy one member and an interim appointment will be made in the near future.
