A series of public meetings will be held over the county the latter part of next week in order to fully explain the bond proposal to be voted on Sept. 12 and detail the need for a county home for the aged to replace Cedar Rest.

Viola Klassen entertained with a dinner at her home in Hillsboro honoring Jean Ann Dody, who has been assisting in the county superintendent’s office this summer. Others present were Carol Conyers, Beverly Pankratz, Donna Kelsey, Naomi Stenzel and Sue Summervill.

Gary L. Reiman, 23-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Reiman of the Lincolnville community, was killed Friday evening in a tragic tractor accident at their farm home.

Early enrollment figures for the Marion schools now show a continuation of the small but steady increase in the number of students. Totals in the three schools are Bown Corby 164, Marion Elementary (including kindergarten 281, and Marion High School 209 for a total of 654.

Tonight is the crowning of the Fair Queen. The three finalists are Julie Wooldridge of Marion and Marilyn Suderman and Rosemary Pankratz of Hillsboro.
