Marion County voters will go to the polls Sept. 12 to vote on a proposal to build a county home for the aged. Briefly, the proposal is to approve a countywide bond issue of not to exceed $315,000 for the purpose of building an approved 50-bed facility somewhere in the county.
Donna Reid of Marion missed $200 in this week’s Cash Day drawing. Mrs. B.W. Williams of Marion missed $20, Wade Robertson, Marion, missed $10, and both Georgia E. Bezdek, Marion, and W.J. Sullenger, Marion received $30. Next week’s first-place prize money again will be $200, second prize $30, third prize $15, and fourth and fifth will be $5 each.
Harold “Dutch” Hauser won the Marion Country Club championship this week at the annual Labor Day weekend 2-day tournament. Pat Jackson was the winner in the women’s division.
Births announced in this issue include Jean Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Exline of Salina; Nathan Lance, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence H. Hart, Newton; Tressa Ann and Tommy Allen, twin children of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tyner, Peabody; Alex Case, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case Jr., Marion; and Paul Russel III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Attwater II of Peabody.
The Kleiber reunion was held at the Marion Water Works Park Sept. 3 with a good crowd attending.
